I used to wonder why MOST Jewish people would endure the crap they've historically faced in this country, when it's so easy for them to choose to blend in with non Jews. I've come to the conclusion that it's about embracing their heritage and choosing, despite substantial negative consequences to exercise the right to just be ones self. So being black,gay, and completely grown up(but forever learning),I do feel some kind of way when the black gay community comes up short in the intestinal fortitude department when compared to Jewish people. But even more troubling is the twisted thinking that glorifies the lack of pride and appreciation for our own heros and our own selves.
Just to nip some juvenile retorts in the bud, let me say that a lot of you are a lot more clockable than you believe. Instead of disparaging those who are out, you should thank them. Because your being DL is a choice not a necessity because of those out people. They are creating a boundary between what society in general can or can't get away with in its dealing with gay people.
